The dirty and abrasive conditions of a major motor company's truck seat shop presented auto identification challenges. An RFID solution was the best solution for the problem. Using RFID tags and readers in the seat shop, inventory and shipping departments, the company was able to track the seats and write data on the tags such as customized work as well as reduce production time with real time reporting. With an RFID tag attached to a seat pallet, the production line goes along being read by RFID readers. The information passed through a PLC gives the operator the necessary info on the seat and if there is a need for customization.
