Power LEDs are replacing the old filament bulbs and incandescent lamps in the lighting market. High efficiency optics had to be mounted on power LEDS for road lamps, in full respect of the regulations in force. Moreover the least number of expensive power LEDS had to be used. The optics developed were single plastic components that transmitted light by means of refraction as well as by total internal reflection. A variation was made on the front lens surface in order to obtain two different beam emerging angles. The necessity of having more concentrated lighting in a certain area and a more diffused one in another was solved.
