Detection of paper labels on different backgrounds

Good product quality requires the completeness of all the package parts, including labels. In this application the package has a soft very shiny case that contains three labels. The very shiny surface makes the application difficult for contrast sensors or vision sensors. Luminescence sensors are able to exploit the natural paper luminescence. This sensor thanks to its UV emission detects the presence of paper labels on backgrounds of different materials such as metal or plastic and is unconditioned by shiny surfaces. The application is solved thanks to the sensor that reads the three labels during product passage and supplies 3 pulses to the machine that confirm package completeness. The presence of a lower number of pulses implies the absence of labels or label overlapping and thus the package has to be discarded.
